2021–2023 Cherokees need an AGM battery. A standard flooded battery is not a substitute.

On 2019–2020 Cherokees, some trims need AGM. If yours has auto start-stop, or the battery in it now is labeled AGM, it needs AGM again.

For 2014–2018 Cherokees, a standard battery fits and AGM is an optional upgrade, worth it if the SUV sits for long stretches, makes a lot of short trips or runs accessories with the engine off.

Battery registration

Some late-model Cherokees monitor the battery through a sensor on the negative cable and adjust charging as the battery ages. On those, the new battery may need a reset or registration so the SUV charges it correctly. We check from your VIN and tell you before the appointment.
