Tesla 12V battery replacement in Dallas–Fort Worth

A Tesla can have a full drive battery and still refuse to unlock, wake the screen or shift into gear. That is usually the small low-voltage battery, the one that powers the computers, locks and touchscreen. We find out which one your car uses and replace it where you are parked.

Signs the low-voltage battery is failing

  • The phone key and key card stop unlocking the car, or the doors only open from inside.
  • The touchscreen stays black or restarts on its own.
  • A low-voltage or 12V battery warning appears on the screen.
  • The car will not shift out of Park or powers down soon after waking.

These symptoms can also come from software or other faults, so we ask about the warnings you see when you book.

Lead-acid or lithium-ion: which one your Tesla has

Earlier Tesla models carry a conventional 12-volt lead-acid battery. Newer ones use a lithium-ion low-voltage battery instead, which in many cases comes only from Tesla. Which one you have depends on the model and build date, so we check it from your VIN and tell you before booking whether we can replace yours on site.

We only work on the low-voltage system. The high-voltage drive battery and its orange cables are never touched during this job.

When the car is completely dead

If the low-voltage battery is flat, the car may not open at all. On most Teslas the front trunk can still be released from outside with a small power supply, which gives access to the battery. Tell us when you book that the car will not open, so the technician comes prepared.

Price

Tesla and other electric vehicle low-voltage battery jobs are quoted after we check the car, because the battery, its location and the parts needed vary by model and year. You get the full price before anyone drives to you, and you pay after the car wakes up and drives.

We also quote low-voltage batteries for other electric vehicles, including Rivian, Lucid, Polestar, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevrolet Bolt, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. See hybrid and EV 12-volt batteries.

Common questions

Does my hybrid or electric car have a regular 12-volt battery?

Yes. Hybrids and EVs use a small 12-volt battery to start up their computers, door locks and safety systems. Many use an AGM battery; some newer EVs use a lithium-ion 12-volt battery that is only sold by the dealer. We check which one your vehicle uses from the VIN and tell you before booking.

Why do you confirm the price before sending a technician?

Battery prices and stock change, and taxes and fees depend on the exact battery. Confirming the battery, the availability and the full price before dispatch means no surprise charges and no wasted trip with the wrong battery. The final price is confirmed before we send the technician, based on availability, taxes and fees.

When do I pay?

After the battery is installed and the vehicle starts. Nothing is charged before the work is done.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes. You can cancel at no charge any time before the technician arrives. Because you pay only after the battery is installed and your vehicle starts, there is no deposit to refund.

Can you replace a battery at my apartment, office or a parking garage?

Yes, as long as the vehicle is parked somewhere safe and we are allowed to work there. Mention low-clearance garages, gate codes or parking levels when you book.
