Heavy equipment batteries, delivered to the job site

When a dozer or loader will not start, the whole crew waits. We bring Duralast Heavy Duty 4D, 8D and Group 31 batteries to the site and install them on the machine, so you do not have to send someone to a parts store with a 130-pound battery.

4D, 8D or Group 31?

The battery your machine needs depends on its engine and electrical system. Large dozers and loaders often use 8D batteries, the biggest common size. Mid-size machines, older trucks and some buses use 4D. Many newer machines use two or more Group 31 batteries. Many machines run on 24 volts, which means two 12-volt batteries wired in series, so both are replaced together.

See our guide to Group 31, 4D and 8D batteries for the differences.

What to send us

  • Machine make, model and serial number, or a photo of the current battery label.
  • How many batteries it uses and whether the system is 12 or 24 volts.
  • The job site address, gate or access instructions and a contact on site.

Machines that sit

Equipment that sits between jobs slowly drains its batteries, and the Texas heat speeds that up. If a machine has been parked for weeks, the batteries may be damaged even if they charge back up. We can test them on site and tell you honestly whether they are worth keeping.

Common questions

How heavy is an 8D battery?

An 8D battery weighs well over 100 pounds; the Duralast Heavy Duty 8D is listed at about 132 pounds. That is one reason crews call us instead of hauling one from a store. We handle the lifting and the installation on site.

My machine is 24 volts. What batteries does it need?

A 24-volt system usually uses two 12-volt batteries, such as two 8Ds, two 4Ds or two Group 31s, wired in series. Both should be replaced together with matching batteries. Send us the machine model or a photo of the battery label and we confirm it.

How much does mobile battery replacement cost?

Your total has four parts: the battery’s retail price, a refundable core charge where it applies, installation labor for your vehicle and Texas sales tax. TotalPro batteries are listed from about $119.99, Duralast standard batteries from about $179.99 and Duralast Platinum AGM batteries from about $259.99 before core charge, labor and tax. Labor starts at $90 and depends on how hard the battery is to reach. The battery finder shows the battery price and the labor for your vehicle, and we send the confirmed total before we dispatch. See how pricing works.

When do I pay?

After the battery is installed and the vehicle starts. Nothing is charged before the work is done.

Can you come to a job site, yard or truck stop?

Yes. Give us the address or exact location, any gate or access instructions and a contact on site, and we confirm the battery and price before heading out.
