Price and payment
How much does mobile battery replacement cost?
Your total has four parts: the battery’s retail price, a refundable core charge where it applies, installation labor for your vehicle and Texas sales tax. TotalPro batteries are listed from about $119.99, Duralast standard batteries from about $179.99 and Duralast Platinum AGM batteries from about $259.99 before core charge, labor and tax. Labor starts at $90 and depends on how hard the battery is to reach. The battery finder shows the battery price and the labor for your vehicle, and we send the confirmed total before we dispatch. See how pricing works.
When do I pay?
After the battery is installed and the vehicle starts. Nothing is charged before the work is done.
How much is installation labor?
Labor depends on how hard the battery is to reach on your vehicle: easy installs are $90, medium $110, hard $130 and complex $150. Some luxury and performance vehicles cost more, and a few, such as the 12-volt battery in many electric vehicles, are quoted after we check the vehicle. Year and engine can change the location of the battery, so we confirm the labor from your VIN. See labor by vehicle.
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes. You can cancel at no charge any time before the technician arrives. Because you pay only after the battery is installed and your vehicle starts, there is no deposit to refund.
Why do you confirm the price before sending a technician?
Battery prices and stock change, and taxes and fees depend on the exact battery. Confirming the battery, the availability and the full price before dispatch means no surprise charges and no wasted trip with the wrong battery. The final price is confirmed before we send the technician, based on availability, taxes and fees.
What is a core charge?
A core charge is a refundable deposit that battery retailers add to a new battery to make sure the old one is returned for recycling. Lead-acid batteries are almost entirely recyclable, and returning the old one gets the deposit back. We show the core charge as its own line on your quote.
The service
Can I get a car battery delivered and installed?
Yes. That is the whole service: we bring the battery that matches your VIN to where the car is parked, take the old one out, install and secure the new one and make sure the car starts before we leave. The old battery goes with us for recycling. You do not need to buy the battery yourself or get the car to a store.
Do you replace car batteries at home?
Yes, at home and anywhere else the car is parked safely: your driveway or the street outside, an apartment or condo lot, a parking garage at work, or a store or school lot. Tell us about gate codes, parking levels or low-clearance garages when you book.
Is mobile battery replacement available near me?
If you are in Dallas–Fort Worth, very likely. We cover Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton and Rockwall counties and nearby cities. Type your city into the service area map to check, or call and we tell you when a technician can reach you.
What does mobile battery replacement include?
Matching the battery to your VIN, bringing it to you, removing the old battery, installing and securing the new one, making sure the vehicle starts, and taking the old battery for recycling. Vehicles that need the new battery registered to the car are flagged before you approve the price. Your quote lists the battery, core charge, labor and tax separately.
Do I need to be there during the replacement?
Someone needs to give us access to the vehicle and the hood or trunk release, and to approve and pay once it is installed. If you cannot be there the whole time, tell us when you book and we will work out the details with you.
How long does the installation take?
Most batteries under the hood take well under an hour once we arrive. Batteries under a seat, in the trunk or behind a fender liner, and vehicles that need the battery registered to the computer, take longer. We tell you what to expect when we confirm your appointment.
How soon can you get here?
It depends on where you are in DFW, the battery your vehicle needs and the technician schedule that day. We give you a realistic time when we confirm the booking. For the fastest answer, call (682) 688-3514.
Can you replace a battery at my apartment, office or a parking garage?
Yes, as long as the vehicle is parked somewhere safe and we are allowed to work there. Mention low-clearance garages, gate codes or parking levels when you book.
Batteries
My car started after a jump. Do I still need a new battery?
Maybe not, but probably. A jump only gets the engine running; it does not fix a battery that can no longer hold a charge. If the car needed a jump after sitting overnight, or the battery is more than three years old in Texas heat, it is likely near the end. Read battery or alternator to narrow it down.
Which battery type should I choose?
If your vehicle came with an AGM battery or has auto start-stop, choose Duralast Platinum AGM. Otherwise any type in the right size works, and the choice comes down to price and warranty: TotalPro is the lowest price with a 1-year warranty, Duralast is the everyday choice with 2 years, and Duralast Gold adds cranking power in most sizes and a 3-year warranty. We confirm the size and type from your VIN before dispatch. Read Duralast vs Platinum AGM.
Can I put a standard battery in a car that came with AGM?
We do not recommend it. Vehicles built with AGM, especially those with auto start-stop, charge and cycle the battery in a way a flooded battery cannot handle for long. You may see warning lights, start-stop may stop working and the battery can fail early. Replace AGM with AGM.
Does my car need the new battery registered?
Some vehicles, including many BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen models and some newer domestic vehicles, track battery age and adjust charging. On those, the new battery should be registered to the vehicle. We check from your VIN and tell you before the appointment whether it is needed, whether we can do it on site and what it costs.
Does my hybrid or electric car have a regular 12-volt battery?
Yes. Hybrids and EVs use a small 12-volt battery to start up their computers, door locks and safety systems. Many use an AGM battery; some newer EVs use a lithium-ion 12-volt battery that is only sold by the dealer. We check which one your vehicle uses from the VIN and tell you before booking.
What warranty comes with the battery?
The warranty depends on the exact battery. Duralast standard batteries are currently listed with a 2-year warranty, Duralast Platinum AGM batteries with 4 years and Duralast Heavy Duty commercial batteries with 1 year. We confirm the warranty terms for your specific battery with your quote and give you the paperwork after installation.
Why do batteries fail so often in Texas?
Heat speeds up the chemical wear inside a battery and evaporates water from flooded batteries. A North Texas summer puts the battery under the hood in extreme temperatures for months, so the damage builds up, and the battery often fails on the first cool morning in fall when the engine needs more power to start. See how long batteries last in Texas.
Which batteries do you install?
Duralast standard batteries, Duralast Platinum AGM batteries and Duralast Heavy Duty batteries for commercial trucks and equipment. Browse them on the batteries page.
Trucks and equipment
How many batteries does a semi truck have?
Most Class 8 trucks start on a bank of three or four Group 31 batteries wired in parallel. Some have more for sleeper loads or auxiliary power. Tell us how many are in yours when you call.
Should I replace all the batteries in my truck at once?
Usually, yes. Batteries in a bank share the load, so one new battery wired to old ones gets overworked and wears out early. We test the bank and recommend replacing it as a set when the others are weak.
How heavy is an 8D battery?
An 8D battery weighs well over 100 pounds; the Duralast Heavy Duty 8D is listed at about 132 pounds. That is one reason crews call us instead of hauling one from a store. We handle the lifting and the installation on site.
My machine is 24 volts. What batteries does it need?
A 24-volt system usually uses two 12-volt batteries, such as two 8Ds, two 4Ds or two Group 31s, wired in series. Both should be replaced together with matching batteries. Send us the machine model or a photo of the battery label and we confirm it.
Can you come to a job site, yard or truck stop?
Yes. Give us the address or exact location, any gate or access instructions and a contact on site, and we confirm the battery and price before heading out.
