Duralast vs Duralast Platinum AGM

How the Duralast standard and Duralast Platinum AGM battery lines compare on technology, listed warranty, price and the vehicles they suit.

We install two Duralast lines for cars, SUVs and pickups. Both come in the common group sizes; the difference is in how they are built and which vehicles they suit.

Duralast standard

Duralast Platinum AGM

An absorbent glass mat battery built for start-stop systems, heavy electrical loads and repeated deep discharges. It is required on vehicles that came with AGM and is an upgrade for many others. Listed prices start around $259.99 before core charge, labor and tax, with a listed 4-year warranty.

Which should you choose?

If your vehicle came with AGM, choose Platinum AGM. If it came with a flooded battery, the standard Duralast is the economical choice and Platinum AGM is worth considering if you want the longer listed warranty, make a lot of short trips or run extra electronics. The battery finder shows both options when your vehicle can take either.
