Semi truck battery replacement, at the yard or the truck stop

A Class 8 truck that will not crank costs money every hour it sits. We bring Duralast Heavy Duty Group 31 batteries to the truck, whether that is a yard near Alliance, a truck stop on I-20 or a customer’s dock, and replace the bank on site.

Group 31 battery banks

Most semi trucks start on a bank of three or four Group 31 batteries wired together. When one fails, the others are usually close behind, and mixing a new battery with old ones shortens the life of the new one. We test the bank and recommend replacing it as a set so every battery shares the load evenly.

What to tell us when you call

  • Truck make, model and year, or the VIN.
  • How many batteries are in the bank and whether any are already new.
  • Terminal type, usually threaded stud on Group 31.
  • Exactly where the truck is: yard address, truck stop name or the mile marker and direction of travel.
  • Whether the truck is on a schedule, so we can tell you honestly when a technician can be there.

Where we work

We cover the freight corridors around Dallas–Fort Worth, including I-20, I-30, I-35E, I-35W and I-45, plus warehouse and distribution areas such as AllianceTexas, the Great Southwest industrial district and the yards around DFW Airport. Highway shoulders are dangerous, so if you are stopped on one, move to a safe place first if you can and tell us exactly where you are.

Common questions

How many batteries does a semi truck have?

Most Class 8 trucks start on a bank of three or four Group 31 batteries wired in parallel. Some have more for sleeper loads or auxiliary power. Tell us how many are in yours when you call.

Should I replace all the batteries in my truck at once?

Usually, yes. Batteries in a bank share the load, so one new battery wired to old ones gets overworked and wears out early. We test the bank and recommend replacing it as a set when the others are weak.

How much does mobile battery replacement cost?

Your total has four parts: the battery’s retail price, a refundable core charge where it applies, installation labor for your vehicle and Texas sales tax. TotalPro batteries are listed from about $119.99, Duralast standard batteries from about $179.99 and Duralast Platinum AGM batteries from about $259.99 before core charge, labor and tax. Labor starts at $90 and depends on how hard the battery is to reach. The battery finder shows the battery price and the labor for your vehicle, and we send the confirmed total before we dispatch. See how pricing works.

When do I pay?

After the battery is installed and the vehicle starts. Nothing is charged before the work is done.

Can you come to a job site, yard or truck stop?

Yes. Give us the address or exact location, any gate or access instructions and a contact on site, and we confirm the battery and price before heading out.
